Victoria was instrumental in developing separate women’s racing and separate categories for women with British Cycling, with the Yorkshire women’s road race league for cats 2/3/4 a huge success. There were full fields of 50 women in the first year.
Victoria then addressed the drop off in participation of girls racing from youth to junior level. The Jadan-Weldtite women’s elite team founded by Victoria added a development pathway in the team inviting talented youth riders and supported them in their progression to the Junior category. Nearly all of the first intake of youth girls now ride full time for GB .
Jadan-Weldtite is now one of the oldest teams in the UK with the same sponsors and have some fantastic results including the QoM jersey in Tour de Yorkshire. There are very few female directeur Sportifs and team owners, but Victoria is one of them!
Victoria’s racing career garnered eight medals including Masters Sprint and 500 metre TT titles and a World Masters medal.
2017 saw the opening of the Cycle Space shop with partner Scott Burns, with customers from World Tour riders to novices. The cafe within the bike shop serves locally roasted speciality coffee and cake and they both work hard to build a cycling community and bring new people into Gatley village.
A shop club will soon be added to the existing shop rides, and other community events will benefit the village. Victoria has trained as a Campagnolo pro shop mechanic including 12 speed EPS systems.
