British brand Muc-Off are one of the most visible in the industry; from their punky packaging, viral videos and constant innovative product solutions, they are breath of fresh air in the cycling sector. 2019 marks the company’s 25th year in business and they are continuing to go from strength-to-strength with an expanding team (17 new recruits since January alone!), product range and entry into new foreign markets. Products launched since January include the bike-specific pressure washer, waterless wash and customizable tubeless valves, with much more in the pipeline. The company is also focusing on making more of its products greener e.g. the flagship M094 is now PTFE-free and biodegradable and they are working with suppliers to ensure their packaging is recyclable. The business has gone dealer-direct in the UK bicycling sector this year giving IBDs the opportunity to make a bigger margin as well as improve the line of communication for customer and workshop feedback this helping Muc-Off get closer to the customer and understand their needs.
Muc-off also have recently concluded an exciting research project with the National Measurement Laboratory for Chemical and Bio-Measurement funded by Innovate UK focused on testing and optimising bike lubes, some key findings of this will be presented to the press later this year and will be used in future development of the company’s own products.
